Dear WTU Member:
Thank you for your patience and support during this period of transition into bold and proactive new leadership for the WTU. It has been a little over sixty days since Nathan and I, members of the Executive Board and Board of Trustees were installed into office. We wish to share with you several important actions that our administration has already undertaken as we approach the end of this 90-day transition period.
Since our arrival, we have been immersed in very intense and comprehensive contract negotiations concerning compensation, length of the school year, professional development, student discipline, corporal punishment, planning time, and adequate resources among other important collective bargaining issues. Nathan and I have visited many schools to address health and safety issues, the new standards, teacher certification and contract enforcement. To improve the day-to-day operations of the WTU office, we are implementing customer service training, developing a personnel manual, and restructuring inter-office management practices.
