No Child Left Behind
The Washington Teachers’ Union continues to support No Child Left Behind (NCLB) waivers to counter unrealistic expectations that will not improve the quality of education for D.C. students.
A recent study by the University of California at Los Angeles’ Civil Rights Project shows that in its nine years, NCLB has not increased student achievement or narrowed the achievement gap.i
Years after this failed experiment, WTU continues to push for student achievement and maintains that NCLB waivers are a necessary first step in realizing that goal.
