Washington Teachers’ Union Endorses Candidates for State Board of EducationThursday, October 25, 2012
The Washington Teachers’ Union (WTU) announced the endorsement of candidates for the D.C. State Board of Education. The candidates are: Marvin Tucker for At- Large, Villareal Johnson for Ward 7, Trayon White for Ward 8, D. Kamili Anderson for Ward 4 and Jack Jacobson for Ward 2.
“WTU is proud to endorse such outstanding candidates in the State Board of Education race. These candidates have the vision, energy, and commitment to improve student outcomes by collaborating with local school communities, parents and students to improve the quality of public education in the District. Washington D.C. needs a State Board of Education that will contribute to the creation of education policy that advances educational standards,” said WTU President Nathan Saunders.
All candidates were invited to participate in an interview forum hosted by WTU executive board members on October 13, 2012. The candidates were each given an opportunity to present to the board and then participated in a question and answer session.
