WASHINGTON, D.C.--Today, the Washington Teachers’ Union (WTU) announces the recovery of a $1.2 million Teacher Annuity and Aid Distribution Fund that was originally established exclusively for white teachers in 1894 by the Teachers’ Annuity and Aid Association of the District of Columbia to provide one-time financial assistance to teachers with permanent and temporary disabilities and help off-set medical costs.
