English Language Learners 101, Modules I-III: Who are ELLs? Second Language Acquisition and Development

Earn: 45 Professional Learning Units (PLUs)/3 Recertification Hours in Content Knowledge

These modules are targeted to pre-K-12 educators of ELLs and are designed to provide research-based information on second language acquisition research, to enable participants to provide students with equitable access to standards-based academic content and validate the instructional practices for ELLs while also equipping participants with differentiation strategies. Information in this course will enhance the instructional practices of mainstream educators of ELLs who are currently implementing and expanding their repertoire by introducing new research-based strategies. This course will engage participants in learning about second language acquisition, ELL student literacy development, content-based literacy, and ELL access to the Common Core State Standards.
